I’m Back! 50+ Years of Questioning Normal, and I’m Just Getting Started
G'day world. It's been a while.
Some of you might've thought the old Fossil had finally hung up the planer. No way! I’ve been a little quiet, but the design mind hasn’t stopped and after 50+ years in the shaping bay I'm still asking the same question: What if boards can go faster and turn harder?
It’s something that’s in my DNA, I just can’t help but think of how we can surf bigger waves, take off deeper, put more power behind turns and give surfers the ultimate feeling of a magic board gifting you a dream wave.
That questioning hasn't gone anywhere. Neither have I.
What we've been up to
I’ve got my son Damo now working with me to slowly take over the business, so I can keep focused on designing and shaping. So we've pulled the whole MC setup apart and rebuilt it, starting with this website with a complete set of designs tinkered to perfection. We’ve launched our Youtube channel, and re-jigged the socials too. I’m at @mauricecole_ and the team is at @mcsurfboards for Instagram. Rumour has it we even have TikTok too.
What you can do
Find your magic board with easy with our board categories in the menu bar. You can browse through and check out the specs, watch the new videos. Some are still in the works for when the Fossil get’s back from this world tour.

What's next
I’ve just landed in California, where I’m being honored as the Icon of Foam at this year’s Boardroom Show, which I’m so excited about and can’t wait to see old friends and tell some stories. I’ll be then heading to New York for a 2 week residency at Pilgrim and then it’s onto the UK, Europe, Japan and then Hawaii with my son Damo.
